         The official website of District Budgam was launched with two objectives in mind- the first one was to introduce the district to the interested netizen and thereby highlight the tourism, business, travel and developmental activities therein; the  second was to reach out to our own citizens; to inform them about their district, and more importantly seek their comments, guidance and advice. Thus, this web site has pages designed with both these aims. While there are features on the natural beauty, tourism potential and traditional handicrafts of the district.
        For the interested netizen accessing this site, I would only remark that the District of Budgam is a wonderful one in many ways- perhaps the most beautiful one in the valley of Kashmir; the vegetable capital of the valley and home to some of the most exotic handicrafts and handlooms of Kashmir. It is also the abode of the saints and the famous Chrar-e-Sharif shrine is in this district. The traditional exists cheek by jowl with the modern and the Software Technology Park jostles for space with the Kani shawl. Do visit us and savour the famed Kashmiri hospitality. 
        Finally, for all our virtual guests I would only say, that we are a young district trying to embrace the modern without sacrificing our traditional skills and values.
