DDC Budgam reviews relief distribution to snow affected orchardists

Budgam, Feb, 12: District Development Commissioner, Budgam Tariq Hussain Ganaie today convened a meeting of officers to take review of the status of relief distribution to snow affected orchardists across the district Budgam.

The meeting among others was attended by, SDMs, CPO, PO ICDS, ACD, ACR, Tehsildars, BDOs and other concerned.   

During the review, the DDC said that Rs 13 crores released as a first installment out of total sanctioned amount of Rs. 28.61 crores has been distributed in full among the affected farmers across nine tehsils of district Budgam.

He said that all orcahdists hit by November- 6,7 heavy snowfall which has been declared as a National Calamity by government shall be provided with the relief. He said that next installment to the tune of Rs. 15.61 crores follows soon. The DDC directed the concerned SDMs and Tehsildars to ensure hassle-free and transparent distribution of relief to each affected orchardists. He directed concerned to maintain complaint register during the relief distribution process and ensure prompt redressal of their grievances.

Meanwhile, DDC gave strict instructions to all Tehsildars to launch a massive drive against the encroachers indulging in grabbing the state and kaah- charai land in their respective jurisdictions. He stressed on immediate retrieving of the encroached land and taking strict action against the offenders.

The DDC also reviewed the status of implementation of Poshan Abhiyan scheme and stressed on distribution of nutritious food items to children at all ICDS Centers across the district. The DDC directed all concerned to follow the prescribed guidelines for safe storage and procurements, besides directed ICDS authorities to keep close liaison with FCS&CA department while procuring supplies and besides address the issues relating to rice procurement.

While stressing on foolproof solid waste management system in the district, the DDC exhorted upon the concerned Executive Officers of all Municipal Committees to identify the viable sites for waste dumping and ensure its proper disposal. He instructed them to introduce innovative methods to ensure scientific disposal of solid waste.   

In a separate meeting, the DDC took review of the preparedness of forthcoming Panchayat elections to be held at all vacant Panchayat halqas in the district. The DDC said that the polls shall be held in multiple phases and all viable structures government as well as private shall be used for establishment of polling booths. He said that all arrangements should be put in place to ensure hassle- free voting.
