DDC Budgam urges Sarpanchs, Panchs to be part of change
Budgam, Feb 5: District Development Commissioner Budgam, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today urged Sarpanchs and Panchs to be ambassadors of change and be part of the electoral awareness generation of the system.
These remarks were made by the DDC during an awareness programme for Sarpanchs, Panchs and Ward Members of Budgam regarding EVM (VVAT) held under Systematic Voter Education Electoral Participation (SVEEP) at New Conference Hall in Budgam.
The programme was attended by a large gathering of Sarpanchs, Panchs and Ward members of the district.
On the occasion, the DDC termed the elected members as important part of the government and urged them to coordinate in creating electoral awareness among the people to make the democracy more strong.
The DDC deliberated on the importance of elections and people participation in polls and directed concerned to make the polling stations disability friendly and accessible to all.
She directed the Education department to ensure basic minimum facilities including installation of ramps for easy access to the disable persons at all polling stations. She further said that no genuine voter is left un-registered in the district to ensure maximum participation in the upcoming polls.
During the meeting, the DDC interacted with the elected members and assured them that they will be given full cooperation by all the concerned departments for the development of their respective areas.
