District Administration Budgam gears up for upcoming Panchayat Polls
Budgam, Feb, 14: District Election Officer (DEO) Budgam, Tariq Hussain Ganai today convened a meeting with designated ROs, AROs and other concerned reviewed the poll preparedness for the upcoming Panchayat elections.
During the meeting, DEO interacted with ROs and AROs designated for Sukhnag, Beerwah and BK Pora, Rathsun and Budgam blocks which shall go for polls in first two phases respectively.
The DEO reviewed the preparedness and related arrangements for smooth conduct of whole process and emphasize on coordinated efforts by all concerned to ensure hassle-free and peaceful conduct of voting in all blocks.
The meeting was told that there are 157 Sarpanch and 1941 Panch seats vacant which shall go to polls in six phases across the district. He said the process of designation of ROs and AROs for other blocks have also been initiated. He said the election machinery is fully prepared to conduct the requisite process satisfactorily. He said during the election process voter education will be given special focus for this purpose the administration is going to launch a sustained campaign to sensitize the voters about the importance of these elections as these are necessary for socio-economic development at the gross root level.
He impressed upon all ROs, AROs designated to cooperate fully with the administration in negotiating all requirements for smooth conduct of electioneering. He directed them to deliver all the assigned duties with utmost dedication and responsive nature.
During the meeting, DDEO Budgam, Nuzhat Qureshi briefed the chair about the overall preparedness done for the peaceful conduct of election in all Panchayat halqas of the district.
She sensitized the ROs, AROs and other concerned on filling up of nominations, rejection of nominations, qualification of nominations, completion of polling process till the conclusion of the declaration of the results was presented.
