Arrangements for Annual Urs at Chareshareef finalized.

Budgam, Oct.04 2018: District Development Commissioner Budgam, Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar today visited the Chareshareef Shrine to finalize the arrangements made for smooth conduct of annual Urs of Alamdar-e Kashmir (ra) commencing from 05.10. 2018.

While reviewing arrangements made by concerned departments pursuant to the directions envisaged during the meeting convened in this regard on 26.09.2018,the DDC was apprised that arrangements regarding availability of essential commodities particularly rice, sugar, flour, K-oil and LPG have already been put in place. She directed FCS&CA department to ensure additional quota of essential food items remain available for the consumers during Urs period.

With respect to drinking water and electric supply the DDC was informed that concerned departments of PHE and PDD have already chalked out arrangement plan to provide uninterrupted   power and drinking water supply to the town in whole during Urs days. It was apprised that both the departments have sensitized their ground level staff to ensure no unprecedented disruption of any supply during this period occurs. In addition, the DDC directed PDD department to do all maintenance work of already installed street lights and also install additional lights at appropriate places where ever required.

Regarding medical facilities during Urs days the department of health as per past practice will establish three medical camps equipped fully with trained medical staff and emergency aid besides a mobile blood bank in and around the Shrine premises particularly in the areas were huge gathering of devotees is expected to assemble.

Emphasizing the need for pre and post Urs sanitation drives, the DDC directed the concerned to intensify the cleanliness drive with focus on roads, lanes, drains, besides regular lifting of garbage/wastage from all identified spots and ensure its onward safe dumping. On this front the DDC was informed that work has already been started and volunteers from government Degree College have also been roped in to facilitate the municipal authorities. For the conveyance of devotees the DDC directed EO municipality Chareshareef to install requisite number of mobile toilets.

To negotiate any emergency in case of fire incidents, Fire and Emergency department was directed to put in place adequate number of fire tenders along with men at the shrine premises and also in town.

Regarding traffic management during Urs days DDC was told that ARTO Budgam in close liaison with Traffic and Police department has designed a plan to minimize traffic congestion in and around the town, for this purpose additional parking spots have been kept available. In addition for smooth passage of traffic all hurdles what so ever including encroachments will be removed on war footing.  Keeping in view huge gathering of devotees attending the Urs, the DDC directed concerned authorities to keep sufficient passenger transport available 24/7 at all prime spots/addas during peak days.

While reviewing the status of construction works related to shrine and khankah the DDC directed JKPCC to complete all remaining construction works in a time bound manner.

For the smooth and hassle free conduct of all arrangements relating to Urs a control room has been established where concerned departments shall be coordinating the activities on daily basis.

SDM Chadoora Aziz Ahmad Rather, Tehsildar Chareshareef, Concerned engineers of JKPCC and Housing Board, representatives of Auqaf Committee and other concerned were present in the meeting.
