Massive participation of people in Gram Sabhas dominated the second phase of Back to Village in Budgam
Budgam, June 23: During the second phase of Back to the Village programme in Budgam, massive participation of people was witnessed across the 7 blocks of the district. District Administration Budgam had made elaborate arrangements for the facilitation of people in the Gram Sabhas. Women gram Sabhas were conducted throughout the length and breadth of the district, which witnessed huge participation of women. People enthusiastically participated in large numbers in the deliberations of the Gram Sabhas and raised their local issues before officers/officials of various departments. Noteworthy of the second phase was the distribution of 150 sports kits and 200 sets of dustbins during Back to village. It was also informed that total 300 sports kits will be distributed during 4 phases of Back to the Village. These sports kits comprising of volley ball, football equipments were distributed in presence of district administration officers and designated gazetted officers and public. Besides 200 dustbin sets of green, red, blue were also distributed among the schools of the district. 16 Panchayats in Sursyar, 11 in Parnewa, 10 each in Sukhnag, Narbal and B.K Pora, 9 In S.K Pora and 8 in Weterhail, totalling 74 Panchayats were covered during the second phase of Back to Village programme in Budgam. It was also revealed during the different functions that these measures will help in maintaining segregation of waste in schools and help in maintaining sanitation in schools. Also provision of sports kits will help in enthusing youth towards sports activities. DC Budgam supervised the distribution of Sports kits and dustbins and toured many areas of district and held greivance redressal camp and informed to the media, that inauguration of several development projects were also done, besides interaction with PRIs, frontline functionaries and grievance redressal issues camps held across the district. Designated gazetted officers with BDOs in all 7 blocks of the district also oversaw gram sabhas proceedings and the constitution of Social Audit Committees. Various new works were inaugurated by visiting officers and a plethora of sporting activities were conducted. The Director Rural Development department Kashmir also participated in the second phase of the programme in district Budgam. The programme is being very extensively monitored by ACD Budgam, who himself participated in various activities/gram sabhas in Sukhnag, Narbal and SKpora blocks and interacted with the participants. The concerned SDMs, BDOs as well as officers/officials of various departments participated in the programme and people raised their issues pertaining to Health, Education, PDD and various other departments before these field functionaries. The local people are vigorously participating in the programme and their extensive participation has made the programme a huge success in district Budgam.
