Mission, Vision, Objectives, Citizen Charter

 

Department of Youth Services and Sports came into being in the year 1973. The department has over a period of time brought under its cover a wide spectrum of activities like organising domestic and national games and sports for school children conducting physical education activities.

Physical Education is important for growth and development for every student/individual. For a quality physical education programs that emphasizes enjoyable participation in physical activities to help students to develop knowledge, attitude, motor skills, social skills and confidence needed to begin and maintain a healthy physically active life style for the rest of their life.

To provide all students opportunities and experiences that leads to the achievement of total wellness and result in a longer and healthier life.

To develop motor abilities like strength, speed, endurance, coordination, flexibility, agility, and balance as they are more important aspects for good performance in different games & sports.

At the district level, District Youth Services and Sports Officer is assisted by Zonal Physical Education Officers of 12 Zones, also physical education staff PEL’s/PEM’s/PET’s/  REK’s working in different institutions. In addition to that ministerial staff /GroundMan’s/ NYC’s are under the control of District Youth Services and Sports Officer. 

At Zonal Level we have a Zonal Physical Education Officer in each zone for conducting activities, programs & tournaments at Zonal Level. The physical education staff of different institutions of the zone assists ZPEO to make the programs, activities & tournaments successful.

Constitutional, legal and administrative frameworks

The Youth Services and Sports department with broader objectives for

providing skill physical training and providing equipment’s/field facilities for implementing various schemes/programs through the following sectors

·       Upper primary (U-14 years B/G)

·       Secondary (U-17 Years B/G)

·       Higher secondary (U-19 Years B/G)

·       Refreshing course for physical education staff

·       Adventure sports for student(tracking camp/snow skiing)

Augmentations/Development of playfields for the benefit of students and general public for the achievement of total wellness and result in a longer and healthier life for physical fitness.

Services offered

Physical Education Staff working at different institutions deliver their legitimate services to prepare teams of institution and conduct intramural. The selected students from different institutions participate in different games at zonal level, after that inter zonal is conducted by DYSSO Budgam. Selection list is framed for the students for participation inter zonal district level, inter district provincial level/inter district state level, inter division  state level and national level as per merit of students respectively.

The students/youth who participate in in national any sport/game level is eligible for scholarship.
