The District Information Centre (DIC), Budgam is an interface between Government, media and people at large. The responsibility of the centre is to project, highlight and disseminate the activities of the Government through print, electronic and social media. The Centre covers all meetings, events and functions convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Budgam. Further, DIC Budgam also looks into media coverage of all field visits and inspections conducted by DC Budgam. DIC ensures the media coverage of all the VVIPs, VIPs and other Official Dignitaries visiting District. Keeping pace with the changing dynamics of information dissemination, the DIC also operates officials social media accounts, inclduing Twitter handle, Facbook, Instragam pages and youthtube channels of of DC Budgam as well to ensure, relevant, authentic and timely information is disseminated across U.T of J&K.
The department also co-ordinates with other media units viz., Doordarshan and private media organisations for effective publicity of news items and prompt dissemination of other relevant and important information is covered and reaches to the General public.
The DIC also highlights the good work of administration through publishing or relecasting developmental stories and feature articles as success stories. Besides providing PAS support to the govt functions, the DIC also organizes various cultural programmes and career counselling sessions for youths and facilitate renowned artisans for awareness generation on varoius govt schemes and progarmmes.
