Budgam leads in registration of unorganized workers under PM-SYMD pension scheme
Budgam, March 5: Taking lead, District Budgam has registered highest number of unorganized workers under Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan Dhan (PM-SYMD) pension scheme launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi today.
This was revealed by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Budgam, Khurshid Ahmad Shah today while speaking at a launch ceremony cum awareness programme at district level held at New Conference Hall, Budgam.
IAS Probationer Bial Mahi-u-din Bhat, ACD Budgam Waseem Raja, AD Employment Budgam Hafsa Qayoom, District Informatics Officer Budgam, Abdul Rauf Wani, BDOs and officials from different departments were present on the occasion. Besides, hundreds of unorganized workers across the district also participated in the awareness programme.
While speaking on the occasion, the ADC deliberated on the criteria, registration, monthly investment and benefits of the pension scheme.
Urging unorganized workers to register themselves under the scheme, the ADC said the scheme has been launched for the welfare for workers, who shall be paid Rs 3000 as monthly pension after crossing the age of 60 years. He said that Budgam has been on the top with registering highest number of workers and distributing highest number of registration cards among the workers in Jammu and Kashmir so far. He said that registration process is going on in full swing at 170 Common Service Centers, while as additional registration centers have been set at BDO offices in the district to ensure maximum number of registration are done on daily basis.
On the occasion, the ADC interacted with the workers and addressed their queries regarding the scheme.
Pamphlets regarding the awareness of the scheme were also distributed among the participants on the occasion.
A voluntary pension scheme launched by Prime Minister of India for unorganized workers who are in the age group of 18-40 years, having income not more than Rs 15000 per month and who are not registered with NPS, ESIC and EPF. The eligible workers shall contribute monthly installment as per his age Rs 55, for 18 years and Rs 200 for 40 years and correspondingly for others, into his account and same amount shall be contributed by Government of India and after the maturity of 60 years, the worker shall receive monthly pension of Rs 3000 per month in his account
