DC Budgam administers oath to Sarpanchs, Panchs

Budgam, Jan 16: Deputy Commissioner, Budgam Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today administered oath to newly elected Sarpanchs and Panchs of Rural Local Bodies of district Budgam.

The DC while addressing the gathering of elected members of the Panchayat congratulated them and stressed on imparting the required knowledge of provisions of J&K Panchayat Raj Act particularly their role/function and responsibilities by the resource persons of the Rural Development department and Panchayat Raj.

She stressed on the members to take the maximum advantage of the programme. She also emphasized upon members to work with dedication and utmost integrity while highlighting the issues, preparing development plans of their respective Panchayat, she also exuded on the female members to proactively participate in the democratic decentralization process themselves.

While highlighting importance of the rural local self government, she offered district administration’s unflinching support for them for the welfare of the people and said members have to represent the aspiration of the people through their plan formulation and subsequent implementation.

ACD Budgam, Waseem Raja also spoke on the occasion.

Later on, 4 day training programme under the theme of Transforming India through Strengthening PRIs by continuous Training and Enablement was kick started with the lectures of resource persons including Hilal Ahmad Mir DPO Budgam, Mr Primrose, (BDO), Mr Irfan Manzoor (BDO), Mr Tariq Ahmad Reshi (BDO), Mr Mohammad Yousuf (BDO) and Mr Mohammad Shafi (BDO).

Besides the gathering of elected members, ACD Budgam, Waseem Raja DPO Budgam, Hilal Ahmad Mir, DIO Budgam, Showkat Hussain Ganaie, BDOs and other officials of the department participated in the ceremony.
