DC Budgam inaugurated training program for sheep breeders

Budgam, Dec 20:- DC Budgam Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today inaugurated the one day training program in Shiek ul Alam Conference hall in Budgam. The training program was organized by District Sheep Husbandry Organization Budgam.

District Sheep Husbandry Officer Budgam, Dr. Mohd Rafi Wani welcomed the participants and while  presenting a detailed note on the activities of the department said that the district Budgam produced an output of 12.61 lacs kgs of mutton and 3.55 lacs kgs of wool in year 2017-18. He also informed that total sheep population and goat population in the district is 1.94 lacs and 0.50 lacs respectively.

A total of 66 centers, 53 sheep extension centers, 13 first aid centers are functioning in the district to cater to the sheep population.

DC Budgam while appreciating the role of District Sheep Husbandry Organization for the conduct of these training programs, emphasized on conducting more programs across the length and breadth of the district.

After listening the success stories of breeders, she hoped that success stories like these should be replicated across the district and enjoined upon the concerned officers to take concerted efforts on that front. She asked the breeders to take maximum benefit of the training programmes supervised by experts of the field and implement the best practices in their units. On the occasion she appealed the people to proactively participate in this activity   as there is need and relevance of the sector for the economy of the state.

Along with DSHO Budgam, District Information officer Budgam, specialists of the department, other concerned officers/ officials of the department and large number of people including breeders were present in the training program.
