DDC Budgam reviews functioning of Social Welfare, ICPS, Handicrafts, Handloom departments

Budgam, May 19: District Development Commissioner, Budgam Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today held a meeting with officers and officials of Social Welfare, ICPS, Handicrafts, and Handloom departments at New Conference Hall Budgam.

The meeting was convened to review the monitoring of different central and state sector schemes during 2018-19 viz-a-viz achievements and action plan for 2019-20.

District Social Welfare Officer Budgam presented before the meeting that around 40000 people are beneficiaries of monthly pension schemes of NSAP and ISSS while during the year 2018-19, 239 marriage assistance cases have been sanctioned. Around 30000, 8000, 1100, 4200 cases for scholarship cases have been sanctioned in pre-matric minority, post-matric minority, merit-cum-means and post matric OBC in the district during 2018-19.

 Similarly schemes of Aasra, NFCH, RMV, WoD, functioning of children homes also come up in the meeting under review.  Achievements under Integrated Child Protection Scheme were also discussed along with Handloom and Handicrafts departments. Assistant Director, Handloom and Handicrafts presented the department- wise progress and issues.

ADC Budgam, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani while emphasizing the historical importance of Handicrafts, Handloom departments on its impact on rural economy, stressed upon concerned to reorient themselves and innovate according to the present needs.

DC Budgam while speaking on the occasion stressed on conducting exhibitions/fairs and awareness generation on quality of Kashmiri handicrafts especially Kani Shawls, Buyer-Seller meets and showcasing of products of training centers.

ADDC Budgam, Khurshid Ahmad Sanai, DSWO/DCPU, Akeel Ahmad, AD Handicraft/ Handloom Mir Zahida, DIO Budgam, Showkat Hussain Ganai, Tehsildar Headquarter, Nisak- ul- Farooq, TSWOs, Social Workers, HTOs, AHTOs, Technical officers, instructors and other concerned were present on the occasion.
