Integrated Child Development Service Scheme (ICDS) Budgam

Mission, vision, objectives, citizen charter

The integrated Child Development Service Scheme (ICDS) is a centrally sponsored scheme run by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (GOI) with the following basic aims and objectives: –

i.      To improve the Nutrition and Health Status of Children in the age group of 0-6 years.

ii.    To lay the foundation for proper psychological physical and Social development of the Children.

iii.   To reduce the incidence of Mortality, Morbidity, Mal-Nutrition and school dropouts.

iv.   To achieve effective coordination of policy and implementation amongst the various Departments to promote Children Development.

v.    To enhance the capability of the Mother to look after the normal Health and Nutritional need of the child through proper Nutrition and Health Education.

Organisational /Functional setup and directory

 

The Office is headed by District Programme Officer ICDS, who is the level of Additional Secretary.

          Below him are the Child Development Project Officers at the Block level who are of the level of under Secretaries and are Monitoring the functioning of the schemes at the Block level. The Ministerial Staff at District Level and Block level is distributed in Establishment Section, Accounts Section and Schemes Section to carry out day to day activities.

Constitutional, legal and administrative frameworks

The Department presently works in accordance with the norms/rules framed by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (GOI) from time to time.

Plans, programmes, schemes and projects

The various Schemes and programmes implemented through the office for the benefit of Women and Child Development are as under.

i.                    The Supplementary Nutrition is one of the six services provided under the Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS) Scheme which is primarily designated to bridge the gap between the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) and the Average Daily Intake (ADI) -Supplementary Nutrition is given to the Children (06 Months – 06 Years) and pregnant and lactating Mothers under the scheme.

Objective: –

To improve the Nutritional and Health Status of the Children in the age group of 0- 6 years, pregnant women and lactating Mothers.
