RDD to construct Waste Segregation Plants in every village of Budgam: DDC Budgam

Budgam, Feb 12: District Development Commissioner, Budgam Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today said that the Rural Development Department will construct Solid Waste Segregation Management Plants in every village of Budgam district for segregation of garbage/waste and its proper disposal.

These remarks were made by the DDC while inspecting two identified sites of waste segregation projects coming up at the cost of Rs. 35 lac each under Swachh Bharat Mission at Galwanpora and Sheikhpora in Budgam.

The DDC was accompanied by IAS Probationer Bilal Mahi-u-din Bhat, SE RDD Saif Ali Kattaria, DPO Budgam Hilal Ahmad Mir officials from RDD, Revenue and other departments.

During her inspection, the DDC directed that solid waste management projects will be taken up in every village of the district to ensure proper garbage/waste lifting, segregation and dumping through the different channels.

She said that the projects would enable citizens to keep not only their households clean, but can also maintain proper sanitation by refraining from throwing garbage in drains, lanes, streets and water channels. She said these projects would make our surroundings garbage free and healthy to live.

The DDC said that two kanals of land as Kahcharaie have been identified for the each segregation shed to be constructed at both Galwanpora and Sheikhpora villages.

She directed the concerned to start construction work on the sheds including roads and boundary walls as soon as possible.

The two waste segregation plants would cater over 1000 households living in these two villages. She said that locals will be engaged for lifting of the garbage from households for its segregation and proper disposal.

The DDC also directed concerned to ensure there shall not be any kind of encroachment of identified sites and asked concerned to strictly maintain close watch in addition impose fine on anyone indulging in such unlawful activities.

She directed DPO to conduct Gram Sabhas in both villages to aware people about the misconceptions and importance of the Waste Segregation Plants and seek cooperation from the locals in this regard.
